The first post of my new-fangled professional blog. Honestly, I’m a little nervous about it, but oh well. The quickie introduction:
- I am a first-year MLIS student at the University of Washington’s Information School
- I like my program, I like information, I drink tea and thus am contemplative
- I’m interested in social aspects of the web and want to explore that
- I’m also thinking about my future professional development, which is to say eventually I will need a job!
So I want to explore how blogging as a tool is useful for those last three points. At this time, I’m really excited about systems design (really only conceptually at this point; I don’t have enough nuts-and-bolts knowledge yet), so I think of this blog as a way to analyze a tool for its utility, as well as a way to just be chatty about my experiences as a student and future professional.
Feels like a good start!
